The district of Pernik is located in Western Bulgaria. It borders
with the Zavalovyskyarska Mountain on the North, the Lyulyn Mountain
on the Northwest, the Vitosha Mountain on the Southeast, the
Koniavska Mountain on the South. Its territory is 20 269, 8 square
meters.
It is part of mountainous South-western Bulgaria and the towns and
villages are situated between 650 and 950 meters of altitude. The
district of Pernik’s territory borders with the territories of the
districts of Sofia and Kyustendil, and with Serbia and Montenegro on
the West. Its relief is various but mostly hilly. A large part of
‘Vitosha’ National Park is in the district’s territory, and the
district’s major city is located on a river’s ledge. ‘Zhdreloto’ is
a unique nature’s creation, formed during the millenniums, and
called ‘Transkoto’ and ‘Lomnishkoto’ after the nearby town and
village.
